Do Not Lose Heart

I have studied 2 Corinthians 4 in the past few weeks.  It has both convicted and encouraged me.  Here are a few of my thoughts with some help from MacArthur.

1 Therefore, since we have this ministry, as we received mercy, we do not lose heart...
-since we have this gospel of Jesus to share, we should NOT abandon ourselves to cowardly surrender

 7 But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, so that the surpassing greatness of the power will be of God and not from ourselves;
-the messenger's weakness is not fatal to what God does: it is essential

 8 we are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not despairing; 9 persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed;
-only by the power of God can His children go through hard things joyfully and God be glorified

16 Therefore we do not lose heart, but though our outer man is decaying, yet our inner man is being renewed day by day
-once again do NOT give in to cowardly surrender!

17 For momentary, light affliction is producing for us an eternal weight of glory far beyond all comparison,
-this encourages me that the various trials I am going through are being used to change me to be more like Christ and producing glory to God BEYOND COMPARISON, God is bringing good from this

18 while we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen; for the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal.
-I need God's grace to keep God's perspective.  If He has the power to save souls from Hell, then I believe that He has the power to help me live a life that brings Him glory!
